Meet Jochen Letsch: a Guild Commended Framer with the Fine Art Trade Guild, and director of ASA Conservation Framing – a fine art picture framing studio on Windsor Street in Richmond (opposite the cinema).
He has been a Kurrajong local since 2007, and after commuting into the city for eight years he moved the business out here from Annandale two years ago. Before that, he relocated from Germany where he studied Visual Arts, and worked at the New England Regional Art Gallery in Armidale.
Mr Letsch and his coworker Amanda Edds specialise in conservation framing – that is, a speciality arm of picture framing that also preserves the artwork inside. But it’s not just the pieces with the high price tags that deserve this type of treatment – if it’s valuable to someone, it’s worth protecting, Mr Letsch says.
